Canadian Melanie Schorr is co-owner and head instructor at The Yoga Studio. She has been practising Yoga for over 15 years and studied under the well-known and highly respected Yogi Vijay Amar in Dharamsala, India. Her training was an intense one-on-one course consisting of not only the actual doing and teaching of Yoga, but also of human anatomy and the effects of Yoga on the body. She loved her training so much that upon completion she knew that this was her calling.
Because of her teachings in India, Melanie’s own teaching style follows that of her teacher and is therefore quite traditional. It focuses on helping to move energy throughout the body; aiding the body to function properly internally. She also follows the Indian philosophy behind Yoga and believes that Yoga truly is the coming together of the body, mind and soul.
For the past eight years she has taught Yoga in some highly acclaimed resorts throughout Thailand as well as at The Yoga Studio’s two locations; Koh Phangan and Khao Lak.
Jessica Willard has an endless curiosity of people and the body. Her passion for movement began the first time she put on jazz shoes, continued through years as a gymnast and sports athlete, and led her to a career in fitness. Jessica has been in the fitness industry since leaving school for a sports traineeship and has over 14 years in the industry. She was trained by the Australian Pilates Academy in 2009.
With the desire to add on to her, Jessica’s knowledge coupled with her patience and dedication makes her a highly sought after instructor. Whether she is teaching a class or a private, Jessica is known for balancing her cheerful encouragement with butt-kicking workouts, all the while keeping it fun. On a daily basis Jessica is inspired by the changes she sees in front of her as she watches people build strength and make health a priority.
When Jessica is not teaching you can find her working as a dive master.
